Somalia is located on the Horn of Africa. It has the longest coastline on the continent, with the Gulf of Aden to the north and the Indian Ocean to the east. It is bordered by Djibouti to the northwest, Ethiopia to the west and Kenya to the southwest. The total area of Somalia is nearly 638,000 sq. km. (246,500 sq. mi.), and the population around 10 million. Somalia is principally desert and the terrain consists mainly of plateaus, plains and highlands.

Somalia is most definately NOT a tourist destination and not safe for travel or sightseeing. Kidnappings and warlordism are common all over Somalia, and sailing down its coast involves a great risk of piracy. Somalia is at present considered the most dangerous country in the world, so don't go!
