The Îles de Los, off the Kaloum Peninsula some 10 km (6 mi) southwest of Conarkry, are recommended as a tourist destination in Guinea.

Guinea is nearly 246,000 sq. km. (95,000 sq. mi.) and has a population of around 10.5 million. It has 320 km. (200 mi.) of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. The largest city and the capital, is Conakry, located on the island of Tombo and is connected to the Kaloum Peninsula by a pier. The population of Conakry is estimated to about 2 million. The city is known for its botanical gardens, several markets, the cathedral, and the national museum.

The town of Katikan is interesting for its open air markets and Great Mosque, along with the Presidential Palace. There are no national parks in Guinea, but wildlife can be seen in the northwest savannahs between the Tinkisso River and the Mali border, in the foothills of the Fouta Djalon and in the southeast.

There are direct flights from Paris in France and Brussels in Belgium to Conakry, and flight connection to some African countries.

Following the recent death of President Conte in December 2008, a military coup has dissolved the government and suspended the constitution. It is unknown how this will effect the situation in Guinea, so at present it is not advisable to travel to Guinea.
